D32 - Body Fat Meter
How does it work?
This device uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). When you place your thumbs on the two metal pads, it measures your body's electrical impedance to get an estimation of body fat percentage. From wikipedia:
BIA actually determines the electrical impedance, or opposition to the flow of an electric current through body tissues which can then be used to calculate an estimate of total body water (TBW). TBW can be used to estimate fat-free body mass and, by difference with body weight, body fat.
So, in conjunction with your age, height, weight, and gender, the meter calculates an estimate of your body fat percentage. As you can see in the instruction sheet, the measurement you get will vary by time of day, and your level of hydration. It is recommended to measure twice a month, in the evening. NOTE: Although you cannot feel the electrical current when the meter is taking a reading, this product should not be used by people with heart conditions, pacemakers, or by pregnant women. If you have any medical conditions or devices in your body and are unsure, check with you doctor first!
